Each morning, regardless of weather conditions, Newcastle's morning twilight and sunrise is captured in time-lapse video and shown here on NewcastleSunrise.com.

Currently, video updates are completed by 6:50am.

These fascinating time-lapse videos are less than 1 minute in duration, but show up to 80 minutes of twilight, sunrise and morning cloud movement.

As with each sunrise, each front page video is transient in nature. This morning's front page video will be bumped to the archive section tomorrow, so check here each day for nature's latest dawn display.

Catch the dawning of your day when it suits you. Assess the weather quickly and easily as you enjoy your morning coffee!

Changes In Sunrise Position Throughout The Year

This website made its debut in April 2011. To celebrate the first anniversary in April 2012, a very special video was created. It was the result of long and careful work. Each day's sunrise (for that 12 month period) was carefully assessed and, for each of the clearer sunrises, a copy was made of the frame that best showed the sunrise position. Those special frames were then compiled into this unique time-lapse video.

In just one minute, see how the sunrise position moves between the winter and summer solstices over the course of one full year.

The site you see here is only a small part of my Sunrise Video project. The largest part was the creation of the system that automatically captures the sunrise, encodes the video, uploads it and updates this website every morning.

After five years of operation, it seems that this website is still unique in presenting each morning's sunrise, on that morning, in convenient time-lapse video. And they're all available in the archive section!

Be informed of the more beautiful or unusual sunrises by following this project's Twitter account:

If your browser shows yesterday's video, simply refresh/reload this page to see the latest sunrise.

All recording, encoding and updating is managed by an automated system developed by the author of NewcastleSunrise.com.
